Medical Laser Section

The Indo-Uzbek  Joint Medical Laser Centre was established at LRS Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases in 1992 to evaluate low level laser therapy in the treatment of tuberculosis and other allied diseases under Science and Technology Co-operation Programme co-ordination by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The department is equipped with following Lasers:

1.     Nitrogen Lasers

2.     Helium Neon Laser

3.     Semi Conductor Laser

Objectives :

To conduct joint research for developing laser techniques for treating various disorders.

To impart training to medical staff in laser treatment.

To exchange specialists and data from time to time.

To treat indoor and outdoor patients of tuberculosis and allied diseases.

Development of Special Medical Equipments for Laser Therapy.

The centre is engaged in evaluation of clinical, radiology and bacteriological results of laser on the tuberculosis disease process.

Workshop / Conference Organised :

International Conference on Medical Application of Laser at New Delhi from 22nd to 23rd April 1995 at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. The conference was inaugurated by Sh. M. S. Dayal, Secretary Health, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The Uzbek delegation was led by Prof. D. Alimov. Dr. A. P. Kulshreshtha, Advisor, Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India was the Guest of Honour.
