Library has variety of collection of books which includes latest edition of books on Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases. All senior Doctors, junior Doctors, faculty members and employees of the institute are entitled to make use of the library facilities by taking library membership. The library provides lending of books, reprographic and internet service to its users. It subscribes national and international journals, famous magazines and national newspapers. Library is also member of ERMED Consortia. Outsiders/visitors are permitted to consult the library facilities by the taking prior permission from competent authority.
Library Rules
1. Library opens at 8am-6pm (Mon-Fri) & 8am-4pm (Sat).
2. Every reader entering the library should sign in the Visitor’s register.
3. Books may be issued only for a period of 15 days.
4. Each borrower can borrow one book at a time.
5. Journals/periodicals will not be issued.
6. To issue/return, members are required to be present in person.
7. All persons, entering the premises of the library, are required to show, on demand their identity/ Library cards at the entrance.
8. Personal books are not allowed in the library.
9. Readers are not allowed to take their belongings inside the library.
10. Writing or making any kind of mark in a book or a periodical is forbidden.
11. Cutting or tearing of any photo or page from any publication is prohibited.
12. Smoking/eating is not permitted in the library.
13. ‘Reference and consultation books’ (encyclopedias, dictionaries, manuals, yearbooks, map, atlases and thesis) shall not be issued.
14. Every reader using the reference section of the library shall return the book(s) either to the librarian or any one of his assistance before leaving the library.
15. The librarian can recall any book on loan, if it is required in the library urgently, even if it is not due to be returned.
16. Sending of reminders is not obligatory for the library. If the books are not returned in due time, the borrower’s card will be marked “X” after three such marks the library membership will be cancelled.
17. No reader shall take a book or journal or any other material out of the library without having it properly issued to him.
18. If any book or periodical is damaged or lost by the borrower he/she will either replace it or pay its cost. It will have to be replaced buy new book or periodical of the same of later edition, at his/her cost.
19. The price of a rare/out of print books will be determined by the competent authority and it shall be paid by the person responsible for the damage or loss of the book/periodical.
20. If a volume from a multi-volume set is lost or damaged the price of the whole set will be charged, unless the volume of the set lost can be obtained separately, in which case the cost of the particular volume alone will be recovered.
21. Observe complete silence in the library. Mobile phone to be kept in switch off/ vibratory mode.
22. All articles being taken out of the library are subject to inspection at the counter.
23. It is the responsibility of every borrower to keep the borrower ticket/card in safe custody.
24. All readers are required to observe discipline in the library, and adhere strictly to its rules and regulation.
25. The Librarian is authorized to terminate the membership of any borrower if he/she is found guilty of misbehavior.
These library rules may be altered or amended and new rules may be added to the existing ones by the director on consultation /recommendation of the library committee from time to time depending on the exigencies.
