The institute has recently constructed a new wing for the purpose of molecular research activities. The division would be evolving and undertaking  molecular epidemiology and research related to drug resistance in tuberculosis. A real time PCR equipment has been procured for the same. This division is under the department of microbiology. The trained staff is likely to  steer forth the research in the field of Molecular Medicine with regard to tuberculosis, HIV, Hepatitis Viruses and other infectious diseases.
